Additive manufacturing tools have now become
precise enough to allow the construction of objects
microstructured materials that take advantage of both their overall shape and the local anisotropy of their constituent material, due to the microstructure, to be effective. For example, they can be light and strong at the same time, just like the spongy bones of our skeleton.

"Form optimization under additive manufacturing constraint with consideration of local anisotropy".

In this thesis we propose to develop and study methods for optimizing structures that take into account the local scale and anisotropy of the material. Macroscopic simulation of the layer-by-layer manufacturing process will also be coupled with phase field metallurgical models to predict and control, if possible, the anisotropy of the material based on the optimized properties of the structure
built. The methods of shape optimization by homogenization will be reviewed in order to adapt them to finite microstructure sizes, related to real characteristics of additive manufacturing machines.
