EU RESEARCH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMMEH2020
OFFER DESCRIPTION
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within School of Agriculture and Food Science.
This project is part of a larger Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) funded programme involving UCD, NUI Galway, TCD, and Teagasc and aims to develop and test new and existing biobased products for Barley production. Increasing EU regulations on fertiliser use and the application of currently available plant protection products require the need to seek and validate effective alternatives.
This position will be responsible for the identification and characterisation of peptides from different endophytic fungi. Such secreted fungal peptides can act as elicitors, activating the plant defence response and/or in some cases are directly antimicrobial. There will also be occasional field work. In addition, the position will involve regular interaction and communication of aims and results and of the wider project to stakeholders and partners.
Salary: €37,874 - €38,418 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on 19 October 2020.
Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 17:00hrs (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.
UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.
