OFFER DESCRIPTION

The aim of the project is to develop a new generation of RNA arrays. For this, the objective is to develop two new sets of ribonucleoside phosphoramidites for RNA array fabrication with faster coupling times, increased photosensitivity and milder deprotection strategies, and thus to access long RNA oligonucleocleotides of high quality in short synthesis times. Incorporation of these phosphoramidites into RNA arrays will be done using in situ photolithography. RNA microarrays will be prepared for on and off-surface applications, from the study of the fluorigenic properties of a specific RNA aptamer to the direct sequencing of RNA libraries on a Nanopore instrument.

Contract for 24 months, from January 2021 funded by ANR-FWF PRCI Austria(2021-2023)
The candidate will work on the collaborative project RNArrays - The Next Generation between two research groups:
-ChemBioNAC, IBMM (Institute of Biomolecules Max Mousseron) at Montpellier and
-Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, University of Vienna, Austria (Dr. Jory Lietard)

The post-doctoral fellow will work in the ChemBioNAC team, directed by Prof. M. Smietana, part of IBMM (UMR5247, CNRS, UM, ENSCM, Dir. P. Dumy). This team mainly develops projects on nucleic acids (chemistry, chemical biology). It is housed in a building of the Campus Triolet of the University of Montpellier but its move to a new building on the CNRS campus is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021. This new building will bring together all of the chemists at Montpellier and will house around 800 people with all the facilitated interactions between institutes and teams that may result.
The ChemBioNAC team is composed of 1 Professor (UM), 3 Research Directors (CNRS, Inserm), 1 Research Associate (CNRS), 2 Assistant-professors (UM), 1 Research Engineer (CNRS), 1 Assistant- Engineer (CNRS). In addition to the permanent staff, the team also hosts 3 doctoral students, 1 fixed-term engineer.
The researcher will work under the supervision of the project manager (Dr. F. Debart) whose research projects deal with the chemistry of RNA and its applications (epitranscriptomics, emerging viruses, RNA arrays). The research work will be dedicated to the development of new ribonucleoside phosphoramidite synthons to optimize the synthesis of RNA arrays which will be prepared in Austria by our collaborator. The post-doctoral fellow will work with an engineer that will be recruited later to produce the phosphoramidite ribonucleosides.
The strengths of the ChemBioNAC team are based on the complementarity of skills (oligonucleotide chemistry, functionalization, conjugation, DNA catalysis) within the team, the international recognition of the group with numerous academic and industrial collaborations, high level of scientific production.
The team is attractive to future young researchers motivated to apply for the CR competitions at the CNRS thanks to the expertise recognized in France and abroad in the chemistry of nucleic acids which find many applications as tools for biologists and virologists.
