Offer Description

--------The CNRS is inviting applications for a twelve-month post-doctoral position to strengthen research on the “Comparative Electoral Studies” theme of the French national infrastructure Progedo.

The aim of this assignment is to give a young researcher, who has been holding a thesis for less than three years at the time of taking up the post, significant experience of integration into a research unit.

Through this experience, he/she will be able to gain experience as a young researcher in a SHS laboratory, deepen his/her knowledge in a specific field of research and acquire greater independence in the scientific field of SHS.

The post-doctorate is being carried out in the context of the national research infrastructure Progedo and its contribution to the structuring of a national electoral studies network (REEF), supported by the CNRS.
In this context, the person recruited will be tasked with contributing to the running of this network, supporting its integration into European and international schemes in the field, such as the Monitoring Electoral Democracy program (MEDem, https://www.medem.eu/) or the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES, https://cses.org/), and developing research on the theme of comparative electoral behavior with a strong methodological and innovation dimension.

-The activities of the post-doctoral fellow will consist of:

- Drawing up an assessment of French participation in international comparative projects in the field of electoral studies, with a view to preparing the next national surveys;
- A review of the methodological issues involved in carrying out national surveys, within a comparative framework;
- Publication of one or more articles on comparative electoral behavior data analysis. The requested research project will focus on this activity.

Progedo is the French national infrastructure (IR*) for quantitative social science data. Commissioned by the CNRS and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, it adheres to the principles of openness, quality and international comparison of data.
It promotes dissemination through its Quetelet-Progedo-Diffusion data repository (data.progedo.fr), with over 1,600 public statistics and research datasets. As a thematic reference center for Data Gouv Research and a national node for CESSDA, Progedo contributes to the adoption of the best standards in terms of data preservation, dissemination, collection and analysis. Progedo also coordinates participation in major international surveys such as the European Social Survey (ESS), SHARE and GGP.

The post-doctoral researcher will work under the hierarchical responsibility and scientific supervision of Mr. Nicolas Sauger, University Professor, Director of Progedo, and will interact with all members of the unit.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, working in collaborative mode and encouraging initiative and innovative projects.

PROGEDO's offices are hosted by the FMSH at 54 Boulevard Raspail, Paris (75006).
