Offer Description
The main responsibilities of the person employed in this position will include, but will not be limited to:
- Conducting and developing scientific research in the fields of bioanalytics, biochemical diagnostics and microbiology, with particular emphasis on modern methods for the analysis of biological materials, biochemical processes, and the identification and characterization of microorganisms and biomarkers.
- Developing, implementing and optimizing modern analytical and diagnostic methods, in particular instrumental, spectroscopic, chromatographic and electrophoretic methods, as well as mass spectrometry-based techniques, molecular biology, and microbiological techniques.
- Participating in the development, optimization and validation of analytical procedures for the determination and identification of analytes in biological materials, the assessment of biochemical parameters, and detection and characterization of biological agents.
- Participating in the development and improvement of laboratory diagnostic methods, including in particular the determination of biomarkers and the analysis of metabolites, proteins, nucleic acids and other components of biological materials, taking into account the analytical performance of the methods, including their sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility and diagnostic utility.
- Participating in research in the fields of microbiology and microbiological diagnostics, including the identification, characterization and assessment of the properties of microorganisms, as well as the development and implementation of modern methods for their detection and differentiation, including classical, instrumental and molecular methods.
- Monitoring developments in science and technology in the areas of bioanalytics, biochemical diagnostics and microbiology, and identifying new research and technological directions relevant to the activities of the Laboratory, particularly in the fields of modern laboratory diagnostics, biomarkers, personalized medicine, multiparametric analysis, novel detection methods, and the application of instrumental and molecular methods in biomedical sciences.
- Securing funding for scientific activities, in particular through the preparation of grant applications and the initiation, planning and implementation of research projects, including interdisciplinary, national and international projects.
- Participatin in preparation and publishing research results in reputable scientific journals in the field of chemical sciences, and presention ofresearch findings at scientific conferences and seminars.

- Education: Master’s degree (magister/magister inżynier) in the field of exact and natural sciences, in the discipline of chemical sciences or a related discipline;
- Experience: laboratory experience, gained, for example, during work on a master’s thesis, practical placements, internships, or employment;
- Practical skills: knowledge of sample preparation principles and basic instrumental techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, UV-Vis spectroscopy or FTIR, and practical experience in using at least one of these techniques;
- ability to work in a team, diligence in maintaining laboratory records, and willingness to develop research skills;
- Primary place of employment: a declaration that, if appointed, International Institute of Chemical Sciences and Analytics of the Polish Academy of Sciences will be the candidate’s primary place of employment.
